City came of age at home to second placed Cinderford Town on Saturday 20th September 2015 when they showed they could compete with the top teams in the Southern League by taking a point.

This was a match City could have won but the Visitors gave them a lesson in how to defend after being reduced to ten men for the whole of the second half.

City started the match on the attack and Jamie Barron shot just wide and then a shot by Zach Glasspool was well saved.

Gradually Cinderford got under way with Kieran Thomas causing problems on the flank and he nearly gave them the lead but fortunately for City shot wide when well placed.

It was City, however, who looked like taking the lead. Adam Roberts jinxed into the box but shot just over the bar and then Barron managed a snap shot from the edge of the area which forced a good save from 'keeper Alex Harris.

At the other run a good run by Thomas saw him cross for Ryan Shaw to slice his shot wide.

The game turned in the 44th minute when Warren Bentley was pulled down in the penalty area and the offender, Kyle Knott, was given a straight red card. Bentley stepped up to take the spot kick but Cinderford's 'keeper moved the right way and save with his legs.

The second half saw City pile on the pressure and Cinderford defending well. A good run by Bentley was crossed to Glasspool who slipped and the chance was gone.

A well worked move saw Glasspool given another chance but he could not create enough space to get in a penetrating shot.

In the 59th minute Manager Paul Masters rearranged the side to try and force a goal. Geoff Dunn was replaced by George Short and Barron was replaced by Matt Benham.

A corner was headed over by Tomasso as City pressed.

In the 70th minute Masters took Glasspool off for Dan Cann.

Right at the death Roberts had the chance to win the game but his shot just curled outside the post.
