City opened the scoring in the 10th minute but could have scored three before then! A great cross from Zach Glasspool was chested down by captain of the day Warren Bentley but the ball ran away from him with the 'keeper dithering on his line. Then a run from Adam Tomasso resulted in him hitting the top of the net and just after, Adam Roberts forced the 'keeper into a good one-handed save.
The goal came about from a corner that Fawley failed to clear and in the melee Bentley managed to get his foot to the ball and push it over the line.
Seven minutes later a brilliant piece of first-touch football saw Roberts hit a cross for Bentley to smash home on the volley to put City two-up.
Winchester continued to dominate the match although surprisingly Fawley managed to work goalkeeper Gareth Barfoot more than City were testing his opposite number.
Just before half time Pete Keating of Fawley came close to scoring but his shot was well saved by Barfoot.
City started the second half on the attack and a penetrating run from Mike McEnery was stopped by a last ditch tackle and although the ball clearly came off the Fawley defender the Referee gave a goal kick.
City increased their lead in the 64th minute when Glasspool had a shot blocked but the ball ran back to him and he threaded it through to McEnery who beat the 'keeper from close range.
This was the decisive goal of the game and although Fawley continued to press they lacked the will to take on a now rampant City.
The City Manager freshened up the play by taking off Roberts in the 64th minute and replacing him with Geoff Dunn.
A perfect long range strike from Chris Mason in the 70th minute saw Dan Parker in the Fawley goal make a good attempt at a save, getting one hand to the ball, but the power of the shot beat him.
Ryan Holloway and McEnery were rested in the 82nd minute to give Liam Robinson and Callum Casson a few minutes first team experience.
A rare Luke Dempsey shot looked to have further increased City's lead with the 'keeper floundering but a deflection altered its trajectory for a corner which was cleared.
The fifth goal came in injury time (92nd minute) when Scott Sampson managed to get what looked like a shoulder to the ball from a corner to divert it into the net.
