Petersfield Town 1 - 3 Winchester City

City overcame a sending off away to Petesfield Town in the F.SA. Trophy on Saturday 3rd October 2015 to win the match in style. It was a game if firsts, the first Trophy tie in Petersfield's history and the first game for City for Dutchman Bouwb Bosma.

For the first 20mninutes City had to withstand a lot of pressure and hacked the ball off the line in the first minute. But from then on the defence handled everything the Rams could throw at them.

Gradually City got their passing game going and with Jamie Barron bossing the midfield they began to look dangerous. Matt Benham had a shot saved and then Adam Roberts worked his way down the flank and crossed for Barron to put in a shot that was well saved by Tony Ender.

At the other end Brendan Norris made a diving save and a few minutes later had a let-off when Leigh Mills beat him with a back pass but luckily the ball rolled rolled wide of the empty net.

City came back and Dan Cann hit the post with an header from a corner then he set up Warren Bentley who forced a good save from the 'keeper. As they pressed Roberts gave City another chance but Bentley put his shot just wide of the post.

The breakthrough came in the 36th minute. Adam Tomasso broke into the Petersfield penalty area only to be fouled. The Referee had no hesitation in awarded a penalty and Bentley duly tucked away the spot kick.

A minute later Bentley created a chance for Benham whose shots was well saved.

City went two-up in the 38th minute from a corner. The ball received a feint touch which gave Bentley an easy chance which he converted from close range. City had the ball in the net almost straight from the kick off but the goal from Cann was ruled offside.

The third goal looked on early in the second half when a great piece of football from Cann gave him a chance. He beat the 'keeper but his shot rolled across the goal but failed to cross the line.

The game looked to have turned in the 60th minute when Roberts was given a straight red card for a two-footed tackle. As a consequence Manager Paul Paul Masters replaced King by Luke benalli to add fresh legs to a defence which was now bound to come under pressure.

As Petersfield took advantage of the missing man and norris brought of a brilliant save from a close range shot.

The game did turn in the 70th minute but not to Petersfield's advantage when against the run of play Benham slipped the ball to Bentley who scored from an oblique angel to put the tie beyond the home side.

Petersfield did not give in , however, and hit the City post as they pressed forward.

In the 80th minute Benham came off to be replaced by by Micky Hubbard to add a bit more bite to the midfield.

Petersfield scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute when the ball bounced over the diving Norris.

Supporters put their new Bouwb Bosma, under scrutiny throughout the game and were impressed with his height and heading ability and the accuracy of his passing
