Bridgwater Town 2 - 4 Winchester City
Facing Bridgwater Town at a soggy and windy Fairfax Park on Saturday 28th November 2015 it took City under two minutes to open the scoring. A penetrating run down the flank Taz Roberts resulted in a pinpoint cross headed home by Zac Glasspool.
City had a let off when Bridgwater broke forward and a shot hit the upright only to bounce back into 'keeper Brendan Norris's hands. And then Norris made a good save from Josh Klein-Davies' header.
Twenty minutes into the match City went two-up when Matt Benham danced along the touchline and rolled the ball across the box for Jamie Barron to power into the net with the 'keeper stranded.
Despite a very heavy pitch City continued to play the passing game and it looked as if they were going three-up when Benham repeated his move but this time Barron's shot rebounded off a defender and the 'keeper as they both went for the ball for a corner which was headed just over the bar by Rob Flooks.
They did go three ahead in the 59th minute when Adam Tomasso screwed the ball wide to Warren Bentley whose cross was delicately headed past the 'keeper at the far post by Glasspool.
Bentley did get on the scoresheet in the 67th minute with a fine individual goal beating the 'keeper from an acute angle with the ball going in off the post. Bridwater reported the goal as 'Bentley’s careful left footed finish from the left side of the goal, in off the right post, was reminiscent of Michael Owen in his pomp' - praise indeed.
Bridgwater hit back in the 72nd minute when Norris was unable to hang onto a fierce shot and the bounce fell to Shaun Anthony who scored from close range.
At this point Manager Paul Masters decided to rest Barron and Bentley and brought on Lewis Fennemoor and Harlan Basker.
Basker had an immediate effect and put a shot just wide and a few minutes later he had another chance but that too was a shade to wide.
In the 88th minute Bridgwater reduced the arrears again when Klein-Davies hit the post diverting the ball into the net.
